Ami 6: alternator + soundproofing

AMI 6 Saloons and Estate Cars are now fitted with a 290 W alternator. The electric circuit’s p.d. has been increased to 12 volts. Electrical energy storage has been improved by using a 30 amp. hr., 12 V battery instead of one of 45 amp.hrs., and 6 V. The charge indicator light on the dashboard has been replaced by a thermal voltmeter. The use of an alternator improves electrical efficiency ( low-rev. charge, in town traffic for example). It should be noted that the AMI 6 ir.z its 12-volt version is equipped to receive a radio-telephone: this can be most useful to medical men, veterinary surgeons, nurses, sales representatives, and others.

The AMI 6’s soundproofing has been much improved. For instance, the bonnet now has an internal soundproof lining, as is the case for the DS; the upper and lower parts of the engine compartment bulkhead, and the forward part of the floor, are covered with an isophonic complex; air vents and air and heating ducts have polyurethane foam soundproofing, while the accelerator pedal and the heating control rods are mounted in nylon bearings.

A new air-filter, which tones down inlet noise, also slightly increases the car’s power and performance ( Real b.h.p.: 26 hp. SAE, max. torque SAE: 4.3 m.kg, (31.l lb. ft.), top speed: 114 km.p.h. for the saloon (71 m.p.h.), with no corresponding increase in petrol consumption. The 1967 AMI 6 has a new stainless steel front cowling and new ventilation gills. The dashboard has been modified: the upper part is black, the push- and pull-buttons have chromium binding, and new air-vents are fitted.

Finally, the AMI 6 can optionnally be fitted with the ” Arctic ” heating unit.
