When he had to leave Laos with his family after spending 15 years in that country, Jacques Pochon chose the most economical form of transport for the journey back to his home country: a Citroen 2 CV van. The vehicle carried the entire Pochon family from Vientiane to Paris (23.600 miles): father, mother, and their Jour children, Anne-Marie (14), JeanLuc (11), Franrois-Regis (7) and Thierry ( 3), along with 330 lbs of luggage. The Pochon family spent eight months on the road, passing through Bangkok, Ceylon, Baghdad, Beirut, Istanbul, Munich, Stuttgart, Brussels and other cities, never missing to take the longest way round when worth it.
